Thing 3

I think that there are a couple of ways that I could use a blog as a theatre educator. I could use it to distribute materials (rehearsal schedules, homework assignments, rehearsal reports correspondence with parents, etc.). I could also use it to share pictures/videos of class projects and productions. These are just a couple of examples of how I could use a blog in a theatre class.

Thing 2

Setting up the blog was pretty easy. I didn’t have a lot of trouble doing this. I think part of it is because much of my life has included a presence online. While this has not always been the case, I remember turning in papers that were typed on a typewriter and a time before personal computers, cell phones, and the internet, a large portion has included technology. The only issue that I had was learning the layout of the editing pages. I currently read a couple of blogs that are specific to my artistic discipline. I have also published on blog, Howlround (www.howlround.com). Other then that I don’t have a lot of experience with blogs.

When thinking of the name of my posting and blog name, I thought of something that would be appropriate for potential students and their parent/guardian. As for the avatar, I created a simple avatar that has similar characteristics but is not the exact same. I did this because I liked the look of the avatar.

Thing 1

I like to consider myself a lifelong learner and I can identify with each of the habits pointed out in the tutorial, “Seven and ½ Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners”. As a theatre artist I think that the easiest habit for me is Habit 7 ½ Play! Much of theatre by its very nature is play and so it is a requirement! The most difficult for me personally would be Habit 6, use technology to your advantage. While a lot of things that I do as a theatre artist include technology, it will be nice to learn new ways to incorporate technology in my life as a theatre artist and educator.
